Julia Gwilt has worked in the patent profession in the Cambridge area for over twenty years.
Julia’s technical focus is software-implemented inventions which increasingly use machine learning techniques and her mathematics background is a natural fit to this technical field. She has extensive experience in providing strategic advice both in relation to patent prosecution and contentious matters such as European Patent Office (EPO) oppositions.
After a decade of overseeing the UK professional examinations, Julia stepped down from her position on the PEB GB in March 2020. Over the years, she has gained a wealth of experience in the examination process and how best to prepare candidates for examinations. She is continuing her role as the UK representative on the EPI committee focussed on education and is also committed to helping trainees at Appleyard Lees and more widely in the profession through the mentoring schemes.
