Formalities Assistant – Essex

We are delighted to be working with great firm who are seeking an experienced Patent Formalities Assistant to join their team in the heart of Essex. This is an ideal opportunity for an individual to come in and assist with setting up the formalities department and play a crucial part in the growth of the team. It would be very well suited to an individual who is currently working in patent formalities and no longer wanting to make the lengthy commute to London!

This role has a high level of responsibility as you will be providing support to a senior fee earner in the team also. The successful individual must have excellent time keeping and communication skills, be IT literate (ideally have knowledge of international systems) and also have a high attention to detail.

Duties will involve:

  • Liaising with clients regarding their patent applications
  • File and database management
  • Filing patent applications at various jurisdictions (including UK, EP & PCT filings)
  • Paying and monitoring the renewals of patent applications
  • Booking meetings on behalf of the fee earners
  • Provide general, hands on support to the IP team
