Chemistry (Medical Devices), Patent Attorney (Part/Fully Qualified)
Join a specialist unit dedicated to the fast-growing area of healthcare and medical devices. This is a highly client focused and legally varied role so you will be comfortable in engaging with and supporting clients as well as being part of a pitch team for new work. Much of the work is direct, working with cutting edge device manufacturers. The day-to-day will have a focus on oppositions as well as drafting and prosecution. You will gain considerable oppositions experience whilst being supported and mentored by a highly responsive Partner.
The broader firm has an excellent team of attorneys across all major technical disciplines ensuring that you will have the support you need whatever the client requirements.
It’s anticipated that candidates will have a technical background in chemistry, ideally with a focus on chemical compositions for FMCG and reactions of the human body. Previous experience of medical device or healthcare is not required (but would be helpful) and you should be comfortable with mechanical work (as it relates to medical devices). There is flexibility on the level that could be accommodated from part qualified (i.e. Certificate in IP with two years’ experience) to recently qualified.
This is a newly created position due to volume of work and is so urgent a requirement that the firm has decided to recruit now during lock down conditions. That will have an impact on the interview process with early meetings over video conference (and a final stage face to face but in accordance with social distancing requirements).
