Job title
Patent Attorney, Bath

Recently Qualified Patent Attorney with Speedy Partnership Potential, Bath

You’ve qualified… maybe a little while ago. Now what? Does it seem like a tremendously long time before you will get any significant say over what you do on a daily basis or influence over the direction of your career? Perhaps you have some great ideas on how the firm could be run but no one will listen? Maybe you want to attend international IP conferences and actually meet your clients and foreign associates? You like the commercial side of the job, talking strategy with clients small and large, building new relationships and, well, being in control. You also want to own a share of the business you are contributing to, not as a lofty distant goal but as a realistic and achievable one, actually very soon.

This is a newly created position in part to support a large volume of work. The firm has not been impacted by Covid-19. They are actively recruiting now and you could start in the role as soon as might be feasible.

The practice is relatively small but has been constantly growing. The financial crisis did not financially impact the firm and nor has coronavirus. They want to build for the future by finding someone who they can invest in and who will invest in them.

The workload is diverse and in addition to patent work, there is also plenty of trade mark work available (and trade mark qualification will be supported, if desired). Your day-to-day will be filled with drafting, prosecution, advising clients on all aspects of IP, infringement analysis, cease and desist actions, licensing and strategic advice work.

The firm’s Partners are very open minded as to what would constitute a good fit. Technically speaking you will have an engineering or physics background. You will be a qualified patent attorney (either EP, UK or both) although an attorney capable of working autonomously, very close to qualification may be a possibility too.

In a time when there is a great deal of uncertainty, where moving roles may seem daunting, this firm can offer stability, flexibility, a base in the beautiful city of Bath, and most importantly of all, genuine career advancement. With much of the IP profession being arguably too cautious about growth through hiring during the pandemic it might be time to consider a firm who is confident enough to bet on themselves and on you.
