As part of a small dedicated team within EI, you will undertake the administrative activities required to support Edinburgh Innovations’ (EI) work on the protection, development and commercial exploitation of inventions arising from University of Edinburgh researchers.
This is a challenging role requiring a confident and self-motivated individual, with a demonstrable track record in office and data management, preferably of patented technology.
What you’ll need…
The successful candidate will have demonstrable hands-on experience of managing complex office databases and processes, where decisions require input from several stakeholders, and must be actioned before deadlines that are immovable.
A wide range of administrative and organisational skills are required with particular emphasis on good oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, and experience of using and managing databases and database management.
Ideally, the preferred candidate will have familiarity of intellectual property rights, IP protection principles and the patenting process. The post would particularly suit a candidate already working in a patent law firm or within a university technology transfer office.
You’ll be based in our new state of the art headquarters, Murchison House, on the King’s Buildings campus in Edinburgh.
The role is graded at EI Grade 6 (£27,773 - £33,328) and will be full time (35 hours a week). EI offers a very competitive pension scheme: 14% company contribution and 4.5% employee contribution.
EI staff also benefit from an Annual Performance Award. This is a non-contractual, discretionary award which is based on performance during the past financial year. Payments are made annually (normally in December) and calculated as a % of salary.
