This webinar will look at ethical best practice for UK patent and trade mark attorneys, who are subject the IPReg ‘Rules of conduct'. Many UK patent and trade mark attorneys are subject also to one or more of the following: the EPO Administrative Council's ‘Regulation on discipline'; the EPI ‘Code of conduct'; and the SRA's ‘Solicitors' Code of Conduct'.
The webinar will identify key common principles in these regulatory régimes, and will consider real-life ethical dilemmas that arise for the patent and trade mark attorney, whether working in private practice or in-house.
Webinars on this topic have been given before, but (a) the above-mentioned regulatory documents do get revised, and (b) the subject is of high importance to all practitioners. Previous familiarity with the four régimes will not be assumed in the webinar, but any participant who is interested can find references to them (and to other key regulatory material) as they stood immediately before the last webinar at www.researchinip.com/ethicsrefs2016.htm. Shortly before the 2017 webinar, a new webpage www.researchinip.com/ethicsrefs2017.htm will be created.
