How the character traits of legal professionals undermine their mental wellbeing

Research published by the Health and Safety Executive in October 2018 identified law as one of the most stressful professions in the UK, with significantly higher instances of workplace stress, anxiety and depression than other industry sectors. There is no doubt that the culture that exists within the legal profession, including long and often unpredictable hours, client demands and billable hours targets, plays a significant role in the stress experienced by lawyers at all levels. However, research has also begun to identify a number of character traits that are common amongst lawyers, which may place them at an increased risk of mental ill-health.

In this webinar, Nick Bloy (a former lawyer and founder of Wellbeing Republic), will explore some of those character traits in more depth, and discuss strategies to help professionals in the IP sector reduce their risk of mental ill-health.

The event is free of charge for all IP professionals, whatever their role or their level of seniority, and for those who support them for instance in managerial or HR functions.
