Technology and Ideas Assessment Webinar

Speaker information 

Dr. J. Kent Millington is currently Director of Technology Commercialization at Utah Valley University, where his work involves helping promote new technologies developed by students and faculty at UVU.  Previous to this appointment, he was a business consultant and President of IP Development Professionals, a company specializing in evaluation and commercialization of intellectual property.  He was previously President and CEO of AccessData Corp., a leading digital forensics software company, and played a key role in the development of Verio, one of the world’s largest Internet companies.   He also worked as Director of Business Development at one of the largest national laboratories in the U.S., where he was responsible for assessing dozens of technologies and managing the technology transfer functions.    He currently serves as Chairman of the Utah State Transportation Commission.  Dr. Millington is an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at the University of Science and Technology of China and at Shanghai Normal University and teaches for the Polish Academy of Sciences.  

Kent has a B.A degree in History and Political Science from the University of Utah, an MBA from Brigham Young University, completed his PhD requirements at the University of Texas at Arlington, and was awarded a Doctorate of Business Administration from California Coast University.  He has lived in Argentina, the Philippines, and Japan.
