The Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys granted Royal Charter

The Institute of Trade MArK ATTORNEYS granted Royal Charter

Published: 13 April, 2016

CIPA would like to congratulate the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys on the granting of its Royal Charter (13th April). This has been a long journey for our fellow institute and, having given ITMA our full support during the petition process, we are delighted at the outcome.

The award of the Charter prepares the way for ITMA to become the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA) and for Registered Trade Mark Attorneys who are members of CITMA to be Chartered Trade Mark Attorneys.

The Charter is recognition by the Privy Council of the quality and high standards maintained by ITMA and its members and will help to protect consumers through the quality assurance conferred by chartered status. This is a positive development for the UK's internationally-respected IP professions and their clients.
