Over the last few years, we have worked hard to modernise our systems and upskill our support staff. We have transitioned to a paper-light office and trained our secretarial staff up to CIPA admin qualification. Our client base has grown significantly, and we have been recognised in Chambers and Legal 500.

We are now looking to appoint a new Records & Support Manager to play a central part in cementing and continuing our progress. This is an opportunity to become the manager and co-architect of a modern records and support system for an up-and-coming firm.

Your primary responsibility in this role will be to oversee the safe and efficient running of our Records department comprising three experienced staff. Beyond this, you will help update and redesign procedures and workflows for the support team as a whole, as we reap the advantages of wider CIPA admin qualification and a paper-light system. Continuing firm-wide training and mentoring will also be an important part of the role.

You will be supported by our experienced Records staff, a dedicated Systems Developer familiar with customising and expanding our Patricia records system, and of course the Partners of the firm. 

Essential qualifications, skills and attributes include:

  • In-depth knowledge of IP formalities and administration
  • CIPA Patent Administrator qualification & extensive experience of IP formalities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Project management experience
  • Familiarity with configuration of IP records systems

Desirable skills and attributes include:

  • Knowledge of Patricia records system
  • Line management experience
  • Recent experience of change management, design of workflows
  • Recent experience of training others

Our main office is in Cheddar, surrounded by beautiful countryside. It’s an easy commute from Bristol or Bath (against the flow of traffic). Our technology allows flexible working, though this role is likely to require an on-site presence most of the time.
